Injured Albright fears lengthy recovery

Chris AlbrightNEWS: U.S.A. defender Chris Albright needed surgery for a torn hamstring and admits his chances of recovering in time for the Copa America are slim.

The 28-year-old (pictured) was injured while playing for L.A. Galaxy in Major League Soccer.

He was in line to be selected to represent his country in at least one of either the Copa America, starting at the end of June, or the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which precedes the tournament in Venezuela.

But Albright now fears it will take a long time to recover from a severe strain and slight tear of his hamstring.

“I’m trying to just worry about getting this thing better and getting healthy,” Albright told MLSnet.com. “The summer tournaments are probably going to be out of the question.

“It’s disappointing obviously. It’s not the best timing. I’ll come out of it a better man, hopefully.”
