MATCH: Substitute Diego scored an injury-time equaliser to deny England a win in the first international to be played at the new Wembley stadium.
The Werder Bremen (pictured above) midfielder got on the end of Gilberto Silva’s cross to head low past keeper Paul Robinson, levelling John Terry’s 68th-minute opener. (scroll down for video highlights)
England captain Terry headed in David Beckham’s cross from a free-kick.
In an entertaining friendly, Kaka and Ronaldinho showed flashes of the brilliance that will be sorely missed when they sit out the Copa America this summer.
Fellow forwards Robinho and Vagner Love also looked lively, and Heerenveen’s Afonso Alves twice could have scored after coming on for his debut for the last 19 minutes.
After the game, Kaka (right) criticised the match officials for denying Gilberto Silva a first-half goal. The Arsenal midfielder was incorrectly judged to be offside when heading past Robinson.
“It was a very difficult match with some heavy fouls from the England,” said Kaka, reports Sporting Life.
“The referee disallowed a good goal scored by Gilberto Silva and that could have given us the victory.”
Brazil coach Dunga – who is expected to experiment more with his line-up against Turkey in Dortmund on Tuesday – blamed the new Wembley pitch for stiffling his side’s attacking play.
“Despite trailing we were brave enough to react but the pitch did not help,” he said, the BBC reports.
“Players like Robinho and Kaka are very fast but the conditions did not allow them to accelerate.”
