NEWS: Venezuela’s Copa America stadiums have overcome delays to be passed ready for the tournament which starts in 15 days — but organisers have rescheduled one of the quarter-final matches.
The South American Football Federation, CONMEBOL, plunged the tournament into doubt last month by refusing to confirm the venues would be ready for the summer tournament.
But after further inspections, the schedule has been confirmed – with one caveat. The quarter-final that was due to be held in Barinas on July 7 will now be held in Puerto La Cruz (pictured).
The change of venue means about 37,000 fans — 14,000 more than in Barinas — will be able to see the match between the Group B runners-up and the best 3rd-placed team.
